Do you know how to use a sewing machine? I actually learned a long time ago in my home economics class! Now I will be the first to admit that I never wanted to take home economics. At my middle school, we didnt really have a choice as to what classes we could take. We would just get thrown into a class, unlike high school where you have a bit more control over what classes you take.Within my home economics class, there were different stations that we would go to every couple of weeks. When I went to the sewing station, I admit that I wasnt too excited. I hated the idea of sewing, so I didnt understand why I had to do it.By the end of the module I had sewn together a little stuffed animal, so that was kind of neat. I was old enough to not care about stuffed animals anymore, but I gave it to my little sister who loved it.

Browsing through various crochet websites, I saw Free Crochet Shawl Patterns which are not only easy to do but were very eye-catching. These free crochet shawl patterns included step-by-step instructions and a picture of the finished product. I choose one pattern and went to a local craft shop to buy the one-ply cotton yarn that I would use for this project. I started crocheting on a Monday afternoon and I was able to finish the shawl after two weeks. I was very happy that the shawl turned out exactly as the picture on the website. I wore the shawl to a friends party and it attracted attention among my friends who asked me to make a similar shawl for them. Currently I am working on 3 shawls and I expect to finish all of them in time for the Christmas season. I know that my friends will be happy to receive my gift.
